Whole 30: Day 11

I'm writing this quickly from my office while I eat lunch (chicken breast with carrots and apples in the slow cooker, cinnamon and curry spices - did too much cinnamon and not enough curry, it isn't very good but it's all I brought with me today).

We're leaving for Minnesota straight from work. It's a nearly four hour drive to the airport, then waiting, then a very late flight. I'm anxious, but not letting it manifest itself in my habits. I am not physically hungry, so I am not eating. The anxious energy will need to be dealt with in a different way.

Breakfast was two eggs scrambled with mushrooms and olives left over from a few days ago. Trying to use things up before we head out, although at least this time it is only for a few days. No need to leave a completely empty fridge like before Christmas.

We have raw nuts and Larabars packed for this weekend: the drives, the flights, for holding us over if we go out to eat somewhere where there is nothing available for us. I'm trying not to worry too much about the food. It's such a minor part of the trip, yet it gets all my anxiety. Not my baby's first experience in cold Midwestern weather, not the birthday party, not the timing of the travel. It's the food. I feel myself obsessing, and I need to step back.

We weighed ourselves this morning. I decided it was a good idea, a motivator. Weigh ourselves before and after the trip, and that will encourage us to make consistently good decisions. We were down from the last time we'd weighed ourselves - again, significant losses. Combined loss in the double digits (upper teens). We're doing well, not only in this sense, but we feel great. More energy when we wake up. Sleeping better. Clearer skin.

By the end of this weekend, we still want to feel this way. It's going to be hard, but we will do it.

I am sure we will have internet access while we are gone. I hope to post at least once while there.

In the meantime, a request. When Google Reader was killed (sigh), I switched over to Feedly, and I lost all the blogs I used to read. There were hundreds. I could remember a few URLs, but not many. What are your blogs? What other blogs should I be reading? Leave me some in the comments, give me something to read this weekend (and in general, for motivation!).

MARY!! Once upon a time I had a blog, it got deleted, and I started up a new blog called Shannon Under Construction. Once upon a time you mailed me a pair of jeans that no longer fit you along with a small red pin that reads "I am Loved." I quit blogging b/c life caught up to me! Like a lot of bloggers, I didn't fall off the wagon..I graduated college, recently got a promotion using my degree, joined CrossFit, completed a triathlon, and even did a CrossFit competition. I've followed along on all of your journeys, though never commenting (I'm a bad blog reader!) I've never stopped rooting for you! Look at ALL that you've accomplished! Husband, baby, moving, new job... superwoman for sure, even when you don't give yourself enough credit! When you said you were moving south I secretly hoped it was DEEP SOUTH as in New Orleans and that we would be the type of friends that could motivate one another on the track! LOL. I still have the pin and it's clipped to my bulletin board at work. You've been such a huge motivation and inspiration.

I started a new blog... The UnFit CrossFitter. I blogged but then stopped b/c of computer issues and the inability to access the blog from work. But I'm getting back to it this weekend. So feel free to hop on the site and read about my crossfit experiences. The last post was September of 2013, and a lot has changed/happened since then and I desperately need to update pictures, but that's this weekend's progress.

You've got this!

I'm kind of a newbie blogger, but feel free to check it out if you want book recommendations or to just read a blog :-) barksandbaking.wordpress.com

I found you through Katie Foster at RunsForCookies, not sure if you have her in your feedly or not. Other bloggers I really enjoy are listed on my website's blogroll if you're looking for more material!

I'm not sure what part of MN you will be in, but be careful if you are driving at all! I live in eastern South Dakota, near the MN border and we are in a blizzard warning. Although, I hear MN has more trees and blocks out the wind, which is the worst part. I know I wasn't on your Google Reader, but I do have a tumblr blog if you are interested in reading. cspiro.tumbler.com

Mary! You are doing AWESOME!!! I know what a great loss can do to me. One minute I'm rejoicing and feeling proud and determined to keep at it and then the next thing I know I'm faced with a stressful situation (in your case, travel) and before I know it I'm telling myself that I deserve a reward for all my hard work, I have a splurge and before I know it that one splurge has me spiraling out of control. Stay strong and determined this weekend. You CAN do it! Wishing you the best!

My children have newly diagnosed food sensitivities (9 months ago). I remember the first B-day, first camping trip, first vacation, etc. Food caused a lot of stress for everyone! However, it does get MUCH easier. You still have to focus and plan but the stress and anxiety goes away. Hang in there you can do it!

I would so love it if you read my blog. I love to read yours. When I first discovered it, I went all the way back to your first postings and read through until I caught up to the present.

I really don't want to be creepy about it, but I feel like I can just so relate to you in many ways.

I hope that this weekend goes well for you, food wise and other ways.
